Tri-State Advertising & Marketing Professionals (AMP) recognized the best in local advertising creativity at the annual American Advertising Awards Show on Friday, Feb. 23.
One hundred and thirty-two print, digital, and multi-media advertising projects created between January 1 and December 31, 2017, were considered in this year’s competition. Of those entries, Tri-State AMP presented Gold, Silver and Bronze ADDY Awards to professionals and Southeast Missouri State University students in Cape Girardeau.
Three professional “Best of Show” recognitions were also awarded; in the print division, to Red Letter Communications for “Castor River Farms Rice Packaging.” In the digital division, a Best of Show ADDY was awarded to White Arc Media for “Mountain View Pediatric Dentistry.” In the online/interactive division, the Best of Show went to Red Letter Communications for “STIHL Lightning Battery Microsite.” The student Best of Show was awarded to Branson Cusack for “Faithfully Fed Videos.”
Also recognized during the evening was Chuck Voss, creative service director for KFVS12. Voss was honored with the American Advertising Federation’s Silver Medal Award, which recognizes men and women who have made outstanding contributions to advertising and who have been active in furthering the industry’s standards, creative excellence and responsibility in areas of social concern.
Voss started his career at KFVS in 1976 as a production technician before moving on to KOKI in Tulsa, Oklahoma then to KBSI followed by WPSD before returning to KFVS in 2003 as creative service director. He is very dedicated in his community. He is a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where he currently serves as a trustee and finance board chair. He has held a number of key positions on the Cub Scout, Boy Scout and District Scouting levels.
Local gold AAA winners are eligible to compete in the second level of the three-tiered American Advertising Awards Competition, the District 9 competition. The district judging will be conducted in March and includes entries submitted by other AAF clubs throughout Missouri, Iowa, Kansas and Nebraska. District 9 winners will be eligible for the ultimate competition, the national ADDY, presented in June every year by AAF. As a three-tiered national competition with 40,000 entrants overall, the national ADDY Awards are the advertising industry’s largest and most representative competition, recognizing creative excellence and the very best advertising worldwide.
