Cape Girardeau Advertising Group Recognizes Top Local Creative Work
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – The Cape Girardeau Chapter of the American Advertising Federation (AAF) recognized the best in local advertising creativity at the annual American Advertising Awards Show on Wednesday, February 19.
The competition drew 139 print, digital and multi-media advertising projects created by area advertising professionals and businesses between January 1 and December 31, 2019. It also featured an additional 28 entries from Southeast Missouri State University students. The 167 projects vied for Gold, Silver and Bronze ADDY awards presented by the Cape Girardeau Chapter of AAF.
Three Best of Show awards were given in the Professional Competition and one Best of Show was awarded in the Student Competition:
- Print Division: Rustmedia for its magazine design, “Flourish Magazine.”
- Interactive Division: Red Letter Communications for its social media campaign, “Lewis Half Loaf Social Campaign.”
- Multimedia Division: Red Letter Communications for its national campaign, “STIHL Holiday Hard To Wrap Campaign.”
- Student Competition: Racheal Davis for her consumer campaign for Cacti Coffee Shop.
The Cape Girardeau Chapter of AAF also honored Donna Denson, Advertising Director at the Southeast Missourian, with its Silver Medal Award. The award recognizes men and women who have made outstanding contributions to advertising and who have been active in furthering the industry’s standards, creative excellence and responsibility of social concern.
In addition to her years of success and mentoring at the Southeast Missourian, Donna proudly works with local organizations such as the United Way of Southeast Missouri, the Community Counseling Center Foundation, American Red Cross Southeast Missouri Chapter, and Old Town Cape, which strengthen the health and vitality of our local economy and community. Donna also believes strongly in the mission of Zonta, an organization that empowers women through service and advocacy. Additionally, she is a member of the Cape Girardeau Area Chamber of Commerce and the Jackson Chamber of Commerce.
Projects that earn a Gold ADDY in the competition are eligible to compete in the District 9 American Advertising Awards Competition. Judging at the district level will be done the weekend of March 13 and includes entries from Missouri, Iowa, Kansas and Nebraska. Winners at the district level will advance to the national American Advertising Awards, the advertising industry’s largest and most representative competition recognizing creative excellence.
